Author:
Anonymous Harvard MS 4074
Notes:
The initials of George Foster are found on p. 10 of vol. 3. Foster was a student at Litchfield in 1812, as was his brother, James. The name of J(ohn) T(ruman) Stoddert is found in vol. 3. He was also a student in 1812.
Provenance:
Simon Greenleaf (1783-1853) signed volumes 2, 3, 6, 7, & 9. He probably owned all 9 vols. but he was not the student who compiled these notes. The only dates to appear in lectures are 1812 and 1813. Greenleaf had already been admitted to the bar in Maine in 1806. Eugene Wambaugh (1856-1940) was a former owner of these volumes, a graduate of Harvard College and the Law School and professor in the Law School from 1892 to 1925 when he retired. He signed several of the volumes in pencil and listed their contents on the opening page, also in pencil. Wambaugh was the donor of these volumes.
